Welcome to Chadbourn! Chadbourn is a wonderful town rich in history and tradition. Located in Columbus County, Chadbourn is ideally situated between Wilmington, NC, Fayetteville, NC, and Myrtle Beach, SC. The town is governed in a Council / Manager format and provides services to the town’s 2,125 residents.

The Town of Chadbourn Town Council, the employees of Chadbourn and I welcome you to our community. Whether you are a Chadbourn citizen or a visitor, we appreciate your logging on to find out more about our town. It is a pleasure and honor to present this web site to the citizens of Chadbourn as a vehicle to understand and interact with your town government and to the visitors as an introduction to our community.

Within these pages you will be able to find most of the basic information that you need to keep up with ongoing Town functions and services. We have provided a wealth of resources including contact references, events calendars, printable forms, and opportunities for you to participate in the community. Check back frequently to this web site, as the information will be constantly updated and other features will be added. This is a great way for you to understand how your town government works.

Chadbourn is proud of its small town atmosphere and its history. Our community has had some pain in the loss of agricultural, railroad and industrial jobs, but I truly believe that Chadbourn has brighter days ahead. The Town Council, Mayor and staff of Chadbourn are committed to responsible stewardship and improving the quality of life in Chadbourn.

The town's departments are ready to address the needs of all citizens. An excellent and attentive staff of dedicated employees strives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of each department, concentrating not only on special needs, but also the day-to-day lives of the residents of our town.

This position serves in a dual role supporting programs activities, athletics and maintenance activities for the Chadbourn Parks and Recreation Department. Duties include serving as the Parks and Recreation Director for the Town of Chadbourn, planning, implementing and directing all activities for the Town, as well as assisting with seasonal programs and Special Projects. The Director manages the short term plans and day to day activities through professional, technical, or other staff including the selection, training, appraisal, and supervision of permanent and temporary staff and coordination of volunteers. Work requires extensive public contact with private groups, civic organizations, local officials, and the general public in the promotion, development, and direction of the parks, recreation, and building and grounds maintenance program.

An Associates or Bachelor Degree in Parks and Recreation Management or experience is desired, or considerable experience with municipal recreations programs would be accepted. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
